On March 28, in the main hall, the Rollout of the TFC01, our first prototype, took place. At this event, we had the honor of welcoming the President of Técnico, Rogério Colaço, the (now former) Minister of Economy and the Sea, António Costa Silva, and the Head of Open Innovation at Galp, Manuel Andrade.
After the initial reception, the guests were invited to speak. Rogério Colaço, as the host, warmly praised the team, highlighting the value of Técnico Fuel Cell, as well as the other groups, for the prestige of Instituto Superior Técnico.
Minister António Costa Silva emphasized the fundamental importance of Higher Education for national progress and honored his previous commitment to TFC, made at the inauguration of the Técnico Innovation Center. Manuel Andrade, representing Galp, expressed deep appreciation for the company’s continued support and highlighted the long and fruitful collaboration with TFC, both past and future. Duarte Soares, the team leader, took the floor to express sincere thanks to our sponsors, the team, and Instituto Superior Técnico itself, acknowledging the challenges faced and the successes achieved.
Following the presentation of the work done in recent years, recognizing the contributions of team members and highlighting the successes achieved, a Test Drive of the TFC01 took place, followed by a Coffee Break, generously supported by the companies: Távora Varosa, Pastéis de Belém, and Adega de Palmela.
With the successful debut of the car and the positive response from the audience, we are confident that our vision for a sustainable future is one step closer to becoming a reality.
We thank all the guests, sponsors, team members, and their families for their presence, as well as the support of the entire institution that is IST, without which nothing would be possible.
