Autonomous Systems Department
The autonomous systems department was born with the intention of changing TFC’s paradigm in the field of AI and autonomy in sustainable mobility, something that is highly researched worldwide today.
The department is composed of 3 sub-departments:
– Sensors: responsible for capturing information about the environment. This sub-department aims to develop software and hardware capable of obtaining the most accurate information possible that could be useful for the car;
– Actuators: an area more focused on mechanics and electronics, as it encompasses all the car’s components that allow it to act on the surrounding environment.
– Solver: the “brain” of the autonomous car. This is the area where software is created with the intention of obtaining data from the sensors, evaluating the best step to take based on the captured information, and acting on the environment via the actuators. This area is closely linked to AI, as algorithms will be implemented to make the best possible decisions, considering the information the car captures and the limits of our actuators.
By the end of July, we aim to have all the components that allow a car to be autonomous installed in the TFC01.
