Steering Knuckle
The steering knuckles are the components responsible for joining the control arms to the vehicle’s wheels, providing support for the steering tie rods and the brake jaws as well.
The rear steering knuckle is designed with the objective of minimizing the component’s weight, while also allowing it to be used in both rear wheels, without requiring any modifications to it. This is possible due to the knuckle’s symmetrical character.
Taking the rear knuckle’s wide potential for optimization into account, in its initial configuration, a study is done in order to minimize its mass, guarantying if it is indeed able to support the imposed load and achieve the project safety’s coefficient.
